Easy collection. Single cell resolution. Impactful results.

When blood samples and single cell analysis meet, researchers have access to an incredible source of actionable insights. The resulting data can drive the discovery of novel biomarkers, investigations into disease progression, and more accurate views of drug mechanisms of action. It’s no secret that clinically derived samples have a lot to tell you. And their stories could change everything.

But traditional sample collection workflows have not met the needs of multi-site or large-cohort studies. Immediate sample processing and access to a lab onsite put unnecessary hurdles in the way of transformational research.

The solutions are here

Our latest protocols change all that. Now, blood samples can be collected and processed on a schedule that fits your project needs:

  • Stabilize blood at the moment of collection for easier multi-site studies
  • Collect blood samples anywhere, no need for lab access or intervention at the collection site
  • Keep samples at room temperature or 4°C for up to 3 days, or freeze long-term before processing
  • Capture deeper insights with options for protein or TCR/BCR profiling

Check out the table below to identify the blood collection tube that best fits your research needs. Then read on to access data and technical details, plus see how you can try the new protocols, on us, with our new grant program.

Ready to see these new protocols in action? Our new Single Cell Blood Analysis Grant Program is here to help.

How to enter

Tell us about your research! Submit a short abstract (300 words max) outlining your project goals, focused on single cell profiling for blood samples harnessing these new capabilities. All abstracts must be received by June 23, 2026.

A dedicated 10x Genomics committee will review all submissions and select winners based on research creativity, scientific merit, and innovation.

The prize

Two winners will be chosen from each of the following regions: The Americas, Europe and the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Each winner will receive a 16-sample Flex Apex kit for their research project.

See Terms and Conditions for contest rules and eligibility.
