Cancer researchers are limited by reductive mouse models that fail to recapitulate highly heterogeneous human tumors and their complex microenvironments. Scientists from Bristol Myers Squibb recently developed a workflow to visualize spatial interactions and tumor transcriptomes in the native architecture of patient tumor samples using Visium Spatial Gene Expression. In our latest Research Snapshot, we describe how they used this workflow to:

  • Profile tumor samples from three human donors with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)
  • Identity known tumor-intrinsic biomarkers and pairwise interactions
  • Discover putative drug targets
